Triangle Factory Fire
1) This disaster is quite terrible indeed, and i believe that it is the fault of the employer of the factory for not supplying the factory with an effective fire escape. I deeply mourn for those who died in this tragedy and for the families who lost loved ones. I believe that this day should be set to remember all those who died in this accident and let it be an example to factory owners everywhere, that they should all have effective fire escapes in their factories.
2)The event of the Triangle Factory Fire and the aftermath ties into our learning of the Progressive Era because the Progressive Era is all about different classes of working people wanting and fighting for change, and the people who reacted to this event in the favor of those injured survivors and to the families who lost loved ones show that they want a change with the way that factories are run, etc.

unions had no success
unions had no success in improving the economic and social position of U.S workers during the 1871-1900 time period for multiple reasons. first off, they were already low class people, so most citizens looked down upon the workers. the workers image wasn't helped when they started to go on strike because their employers were cutting wages and not giving them less work hours. so this caused the "normal" citizens to fear them. also, these constant strikes didn't help the workers economically because the employers would just hire scab workers to do the work for low wages and no complaints. because of the scab workers, the point of the strike becomes ineffective and the company still makes money while the workers don't. so, because of the unions constant striking, the workers are made to look like savages which doesn't help them socially, and scab workers negate the effectiveness of the strike by making the workers lose money and the companies still gain money which didn't help the union workers economically
